He later studied business and accounting at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, but left college before graduating to pursue a career in music.
In the early 1950s, Little Richard began performing as a singer and pianist in clubs around Macon. He became known for his flamboyant style, energetic live performances, and suggestive lyrics. Little Richard’s unique sound, style, and energy helped to usher in the era of rock ‘n’ roll and make him one of the most iconic figures in music history.
